Mini Eco
I've always had a fascination with small, seemingly self-contained eco-systems. Ponds, rock pools, the creepy-crawlies under a big rotten log. I like how so many small rules/systems need to work together in order to maintain balance. True of the whole planet, sure, but much more consumable as an idea and open to observation on a small scale.
This is a small experiment inspired by tiny eco-systems.
Who knows, I may make it into a full game some day - but for now I am content to have made this little time-waster. Many tiny rules working together to create something of higher perceived complexity.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Left click to place a plant.
That is your only control.
While that seems limited, you can use it with intention. Grow many plants or few. Feed specific rabbits (or don't). The rules of the simulation will do most of the work,
Some of those rules are:
- Plants will eventually flower.
- Plants attract rabbits.
- Flowers attract bees.
- Bees swarm together.
- Swarms of 4+ create beehives.
- Beehives attract Badgers.
- Badgers eat beehives and rabbits.
- Large rabbit populations attract wolves.
- Wolves eat rabbits and badgers.
- All animals can starve, leaving corpses.
- Corpses eventually decompose and grow mushrooms.
- Mushrooms grow plants around them over the duration of their life.
Thanks for trying it out.
